Voki - How to make your courses more creative

If you've wondered how my little cat has ended up on Blogger, now it's the time to reveal the truth. Miguelito is not a Blogger creation, nor is a Google result. My little cat has been created through Voki, an interactive site where you can create your own avatars and give them a voice. This website is designed for fun but also for educational purposes. These avatars can be a great help for our oral sessions!

Voki is a very fun tool where teachers can experiment with a wide list of avatars, such as people avatars (normal people, politicians, historical characters...), animals (dogs, cats...), cartoons (smileys, Digimons...) and even fantasy (fairies, princes, princesses and unicorns)! Most of them are free to use and edit, so you don't have to come to the same avatar to all your courses!

There are four types of accounts for Voki: Voki Free, Voki Classroom, Voki Presenter and Voki Teacher. If you choose one of the last three, you'll have to pay a small amount per month ($2,50). Normally, Voki offers their users a 1-year or a 2-year subscription from $29 (your amount could increase depending on your demands).

Voki has a wide range of tools... and a wide range of languages. Even though it was originally designed for the English language, Voki offers us a list of languages such as French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Català or Chinese. Besides, Voki is aware that our languages are spoken differently in different parts of the world. That's why, they offer us the possibility to change our character's accent depending on the area we're living (or the accent you love most!). During my short teaching career, I've used some Vokis in all the languages I teach. Here's an example of my French Voki:

Well, this is all I can give you so far. If you need any online masterclass, just ask me and I will teach you! Stay tuned... just in case... Enjoy teaching!
