Webquest and Wikis

I guess most of you will be wondering about what a wiki is... Well, we can see the best example on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia made through wikis. Anyone can edit and post a new entry!

Wikis are a great way to do collaborative work. They are designed to be modified by any registered user (yes, as in any social media, we need an account). Wikipedia is the biggest wiki known, followed by Wikia, a brand new wiki addressed to different fandoms. With all this new opportunities on the Internet, would it be possible to create an educational wiki? Yes, it is!

However, there is one who offers us educational services: Wikispaces. This wiki is powered by TES, a powerful British database to find and sell your teaching sources and works. Wikispaces is a good tool to upload your materials on the web and help their students complete their activities.  One of these possible activities is a Webquest.

What is a Webquest?, you may ask... A Webquest is a collaborative activity where groups of students have to complete a series of tasks to complete the challenge. All their answers will be posted on the wiki. That's why a wiki is the best way to fulfil this task!

If you're still, let me show you a personal example of a Sherlock Holmes Webquest. It is made on Wikispaces, and it works really well! Hope you enjoy it!
